Hi, I’m Matthew — owner and photographer of The Missing Lens Photography LLC. My journey into photography started in an unexpected way. When Ryan, now my husband, and I first met, he was working as a freelance photographer. One day, he handed me his camera and nudged me out of my comfort zone. That simple moment lit a spark in me — one that’s grown into a lifelong passion and this business.

Ryan is still part of this journey today. He often joins me at events as my co-photographer, bringing his own eye and creativity to our work. Together, we capture memories from two perspectives, and I couldn’t imagine doing this without his encouragement and partnership.

Photography has always been about more than just images — it’s about people, connection, and being truly seen. When Ryan and I were planning our own wedding, we often felt anxious introducing ourselves as a queer couple. Would they judge us? Could we be our authentic selves? That experience was a pivotal moment for me. It inspired me to create what I now call “Queer-Focused Photography Services.”

Our goal is to provide safe, affirming spaces where love, identity, and authenticity are always at the center. But this work isn’t just for queer clients — it’s for everyone. We celebrate all identities, genders, races, and religions, and we strive to create images that honor your story and preserve your memories for a lifetime.
